Principal's Message

Welcome to the Lowndes county alternative school (LCAS) website.

Our school is located on the New Hope campus. We share a parking lot with the New Hope Middle School. LCAS offers students the opportunity to get back on track both academically and behaviorally. We typically operate with a 45 Good Day policy.

We take a three-pronged approach in addressing student’s behavior. The three areas of focus are biological, psychological, and sociological. There are biological reasons why a student’s behavior may be disrupted. If that is the case, we work alongside parents and their healthcare providers to provide feedback, while teaching the student coping skills. LCAS teaches social emotional skills to help address phychological concerns while making every effort to bridge between external mental health providers, the parents/guardians, and the students. Finally we work with students in the areas of relationship skills and responsible decision making to help the students deal with sociological issues that they may be facing.

Academically, we will work hand in hand with the schools of origin to help our students complete their courses successfully through our online curriculum provider, Edgenuity. Students must be academically successful in order to complete our program.  This is in an effort to make sure that students are staying on track with his/her graduation pathway.

Once a student has completed 45 Good Days, along with other requirements, we will discuss their return to their school of origin. The goal is to help students learn new behaviors along with coping skills and return them to their school of origin as soon as possible.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to us.

Sincerely,

Aaron Lee P.H.D
