About Lowndes County Alternative School

At Lowndes County Alternative School (LCAS), we work together with students and parents to look at the challenges — whether biological, social, or emotional — that may affect behavior and learning.

Through our 45 Good-Day Program, we support students by teaching Social Emotional Learning (SEL) strategies that help them grow in five important areas: self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills and responsible decision-making. When students build these skills, they gain the tools they need to be successful both in school and in life.

The staff here at the Lowndes County Alternative School (LCAS) is dedicated to helping students grow in both academic and social emotional skills that are vital to student success. Students at LCAS work on academic assignments using the Edgenuity online curriculum.  Social emotional skills are addressed through daily small group sessions that are facilitated by our staff and daily Social Emotional  Learning classes led by our school Counselor, Mrs. Shumpert.

Educate and challenge all students to obtain their greatest Academic, Social and Personal potential in a safe environment.
