I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to the Lowndes County School District. The Lowndes County School District (LCSD) is one of the largest school districts in the State of Mississippi with over 5500 students. We are very proud of our district. Our schools have been recognized at the State and National level for academic achievements. LCSD state test scores are improving yearly, and our massive construction projects, scheduled for completion in the summer of 2018, features new state of the art school facilities and programs. Our district is at and committed to remaining at, the forefront of public education in our great State.  The success of our school district goes hand in hand with new industry and small businesses joining Lowndes County and the Golden Triangle area.

The Lowndes County School District is composed of three main school campuses, Pre-K through the 12th grade, in Caledonia, New Hope, and the West Lowndes Communities. We have remodeled facilities and completed new construction on the West Lowndes Campuses. We have awesome athletic facilities with new field houses at CHS and NHHS. We have added a new weight room at West Lowndes High School.

The LCSD embarked three years ago on one of the most ambitious building projects in the state. Our goal was to upgrade existing facilities and replace outdated, inadequate and inefficient buildings. Classrooms at West Lowndes Elementary were constructed and West Lowndes High School and Caledonia Middle School were remodeled. Three major construction projects were started. They have either been completed or scheduled for completion by July 2018. These projects include the new Caledonia Elementary School building which opened January 2017, the new New Hope High School building, and the centralized Career Tech Center scheduled to open August 2018. These are state of the art buildings that are among the best in the state.

Our academic programs are designed to meet the diversified interest of all of our students. Our students are provided with technology through the LCSD’s one-to-one initiative. Our schools feature highly qualified staffs, many board-certified, dedicated to assisting our students in reaching their fullest potential.

The LCSD is proud to be recognized as a “B” District, steadily climbing toward an “A”. We currently have one “A” elementary school, Caledonia Elementary School. They have also been recognized at the State and National level as a Blue Ribbon School.  Caledonia High School is our first high school to receive the “A” rating.

We are constantly seeking the best avenues to serve our students and the Lowndes County Community. Thank you for your interest. For more information about the Lowndes County School District, please visit our website at
